Part of the allure of an Android device is the freedom and personalisation that the operating system grants you. As compared to the iPhone, it can be said that Android phones are somewhat less intuitive and simple to operate - the cost of this freedom. Depending on your level of tech-Savviness, this can be either a blessing or a curse. Today, we will share with you some useful Android tips and tricks for maximising your experience!
Many people configure their Android phones to closely resemble that of the iPhone. That's fine, but if its a simple and streamlined device you're looking for, Apple's products do it much better. What Android offers is an array of interesting and usefull features that can easily be added to your home screen such as cool widgets, search bars, etc. To find all the widgets you have available to you on your device, go to your apps page, then select widgets at the top. You will be surprised at how many interesting options there are available to you!
Building off of the previous point, to really get a sense of how customisable your Android is, activate the developer mode. Go to settings -> about phone then click on “build number” seven times. Your device should then say “You’re now a developer!” It’s a super cool easter-egg. Once you've done that, then return to system settings and you’ll now see “developer options.” You're in! One of the cool things you can do now is reduce the time it takes to execute animations which makes your device feel like it runs faster. There are plenty of other customisations that are there for you to discover!
As you now know, you can put some interesting widgets on your home screen. Additonally, you can do the same for your lock screen! This means that to access some important information, you no longer even have to unlock your phone. To do this, go to settings -> security, then tap “enable widgets.” Go to the lockscreen and swipe left. You should see a Plus sign which you will press then you’ll be taken to a screen where you can select widgets to place on your lockscreen. Put features such as your e-mail, Google, weather, new messages, etc.
So there you have it, our favourite Android tips and tricks. Hopefully you now have a better understanding of your Android device! To recap:
