Over the years, Huawei has rebuilt their image from a cheap, low quality brand to a serious high-end smartphone competitor. The Huawei brand is highly respected in China and is becoming very popular in Europe and in North America. Their built quality, software and cameras have been vital in improving this image and their devices. In May 2016, Huawei released their newest phablet, the Huawei Honor V8. Let’s take a look at what this device has to offer!
The Honor V8 is one of the bigger smartphones that the Chinese manufacturer has released. With a 5.7-inch screen, it outsizes both the P9 and the P9 PLUS. The V8 is split into two different models that all customers can choose from.
1) 1920 x 1080 pixel model
This first model has a Kirin 950 octa-core processor and will come with 4 GB of RAM, which is the standard in today’s smartphones. You will receive 32 GB of internal storage to go along with it.
2) 2560 x 1440 pixel model
This second model has an improved Kirin 955 octa-core processor, which was already used in the Huawei P9, and has the same 4 GB of RAM, however internal storage is doubled to 64 GB!
Both models will have a 2.5D curved glass screen and will be 7.7mm thick. Other specifications include:
The biggest part about the device is of course its camera. With social media, such as Instagram, becoming more and more vital in everyday life, smartphone manufacturers are beginning to improve the quality of cameras. As a result, the Huawei Honor V8 has been packed with a dual-lens camera, which allows for higher quality and improved shots at night.
With a second lens, it’s possible to adjust the shot’s depth-of-field. In addition, the new camera software will allow for a “3D picture mode” that can take GIF like pictures. It will act similar to a panorama shot. The camera has been improved significantly with dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus and a f2.2 aperture!
The device has two different prices for the two different models. The 1080 model without NFC goes for $352, the 1080 model with NFC goes for $384 and the 1440 model goes for $430.
