Say hello to the newest, the most expensive, and probably the most breakable iPhone yet. The iPhone X has officially hit the market and the demand is literally off the charts. We all laughed thinking how could anyone even want a £1000 smartphone, but boy were we wrong. Read more to find out!
On Friday, the 3rd of November, thousands of people stood anxiously waiting the much anticipated iPhone X. Of course some more patient than others. Its been reported that one British man waited in front of the store on the Tuesday prior to that Friday, meanwhile in America people fought each other to determine who was first.
It didn't take much time until more issues and facts were released about the new iPhone. On the 7th it was literally branded as the most breakable smartphone that Apple has. The first test drop was performed with unsavory results. It shattered upon impact, was unresponsive, and the Face ID was kaput. All subsequent tests also failed. Good news though, the iPhone X somehow managed to pass the water dunk test. Lasting for 30 minutes in 1.5 meter water. So if you have sweaty hands and you are around very shallow water you don't have that much to worry about.
On the 8th, news took a turn for the better (actually). The iPhone X was rated the best display in the world. The Super Retina OLED displayed received the highest grade, which surpassed the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Finally to wrap up this short timeline, on the 9th it was revealed that the total cost of materials for the actual iPhone X only costs around around £280. So what's all the fuss about?
On to other news... since Apple has stopped sharing the numbers for pre-orders and the statistics after opening weekend we can only assume that the iPhone X is doing a lot better than the iPhone 8.... and our expectations. This is based on the fact that it really did not take long for the initial supply to run out (within a couple of minutes if not seconds), the delivery time is now reported to be 5-6 weeks and lines outside the stores are not getting any less annoying and never ending. Maybe we should all start thinking about paying someone to be a stand in at this rate....
By the third day of its release, the iPhone X was already sold out in the 20 major cities in America not to mention every other big city around the world. Lines for the iPhone has been longer and stronger and this kind of determination has not been seen since the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014. Many people buying two, either for re-gifting or re-selling purposes. The price of the iPhone X resold on secondary markets (like ebay) can go for anywhere between £1,500 to £5,000. How do you like them apples?
As mentioned before the iPhone X is pretty much the most fragile smartphone on the market at the moment. There are various of way to protect your precious purchase.
Traditional prehistoric method: Hold your phone (or perhaps tie it to your wrist) and hope for the best. Pro tip: make sure your hands are never less than optimally gripping your phone. This option is free (until it breaks) and on the risk scale it surpasses 10 by infinity.
Front and Back Glass Screen Protectors: A step up from the traditional method as it will at least keep everything more or less together. If your new iPhone X falls first on the corner there may be little to what the screen protector can do in terms of protecting. The screen protectors can be priced anywhere between £20 and up.
A phone case: There is a wide variety of cases found all over the internet. From slick and shinny to bulky and apocalypse surviving ones. You know what they all have in common? Even if they look one of a kind and fancy they aren't - with millions of the same one made they become pretty basic. When you order a case from GoCustomized not only does it protect your phone it gives your new iPhone X a personal touch. With your own design and photos for the iPhone X case, the sky is the limit. Cases starting at £13.99. So what are you waiting for?
