Galaxy A5 Build, Specs and More
Design & Display
The Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 resembles the Galaxy S6, but there are also many differences. The Galaxy A5 looks slightly narrower than the S6, because the A5 corners are less rounded.
The display of the A5 is made of Gorilla Glass, which ensures that the display will not break easily. The new version is a bit thicker than its predecessor, due to a larger and longer lasting battery. Therefore, the phone weighs slightly heavier, 155 grams, but also feels more sturdy.
The phone has a 5.2-inch screen with a 1080p full HD resolution. This makes the screen much sharper than the previous version.
Galaxy A5 Specifications & Software
The Galaxy A5 (2016) is powered by an octacore Exynos 7580 processor, which makes it possible to game on your phone case smoothly. However, if you’re running multiple apps that require a lot of memory, you will definitely experience some stutter.
Samsung’s TouchWiz interface is much cleaner and easier to look at compared to earlier versions. No more unnecessary design elements, especially on icons, so you know which app is which. Additionally, Samsung users will have the choice to use access a theme store, so you can customize your smartphone’s software the way you want, similar how you can make a personalised phone case for your device. Soon, the company will upgrade to Android’s 5.1.1 Lollipop software in an update later this year.

The Samsung Galaxy A5’s camera sounds very promising – a 13-megapixel camera lens with f / 1.9 aperture and additional optical image stabilization. The camera takes great pictures thanks to the device’s HDR settings! Unfortunately, the image stabilization still needs a little bit of work, as you need to hold your phone steady for a long time. Additionally, HDR is limited to a max resolution of 8 MP, so you could actually get a smartphone camera with higher capabilities.
Battery life & Features
The phone has a 2900mAh battery, which is enough to survive a day or two without having to be charged. If you’re a light user, you don’t have to charge your phone every night. If you’re a heavy user, you will probably need to charge your phone at the end of the day. You should be able to charge your phone completely within an hour! Due to a thicker battery, your battery life should last much longer.
Additionally, the phone has 16 GB of storage, but it can be expanded up to 128 GB with a microSD card. Unfortunately, there is not LED notification light to let you know when someone has messaged you.
